Hi ladies!
In case you missed out on the mother-daughter fun
that we had Monday night, here’s a little recap for you.
We studied the lesson out of Proverbs 31. If you’ve grown up
in church like I have, you’ve probably heard of the Proverbs 31 woman. She does
everything right…and looks good doing it. Sometimes we can place unrealistic
expectations on ourselves from looking at this woman. The Bible does not say
“go do everything this woman did, exactly the way she did it, or you’ll fail as
a woman of God.” What the Lord is saying here is that we should embody these
characteristics, and that looks different for everyone.
25 She is clothed
with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
26 She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
27 She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.”
30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
31 Honor her for all that her hands have done,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

There are a few key characteristics that describe this noble woman from Proverbs 31.
1. She is trustworthy.
2. She works hard.
3. She has strong character/integrity.
4. She is holy.
Stop and think for a minute. Do these characteristics describe you? Notice nothing in Proverbs 31 says the woman is perfect. Praise the Lord, we aren't called to perfection! We are called to live a life of holiness though, and if we are pursuing the Lord and His holiness, the other characteristics will fall into place.
Whether you are a mother or a
daughter, we are all called to the same standard: to live lives full of
Godliness. This includes respecting your mother/daughter. Sometimes (most of
the time), we can get frustrated at each other, and we take it out on each
other because we can. God doesn’t call us to bicker with our families; he calls
us, as women of God, to live peacefully with each other and to encourage each
other.
Pray: Lord, help me to live a
life full of You. Help me to live in harmony with my mom/daughter and to
encourage her in her walk with You. Thank you for the blessing that she is in
my life.
